38) The Jim Crow laws were designed for segregation amongst white and African American people. These laws banned black people from entering white-designated buildings such as barber shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and buses. They were designed to keep black and white people apart from each other, because the whites thought of themselves to be superior and to not come in contact with the black people.
